World of Warcraft Strategy Guide

I’ve put together this World of Warcraft strategy guide for those of you looking to understand the game of World of Warcraft (also known as WoW) a bit better. WoW is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). This means that it is a game played online by a large number of people playing individual characters who interact in the game world. Your journey starts as a weak character which you will develop with skills, talents, weapons, and armor to become a powerful being in this world. It takes time to make your name known but remember that the most powerful people in Azeroth started with nothing except their eagerness to learn, just as you have.

Factions
When you start the game you will align yourself with one of two warring factions. They are known as the Alliance and the Horde. We have World of Warcraft strategy guides written for both factions so I recommend you pick the one side your friends are playing.
Races
The Alliance is the more human-like side. The racial choices are Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Night Elves, and Draenei. The Horde are more beast-like and their racial choices are Trolls, Orcs, Undead, Tauren, and Blood Elves. The two sides do not interact with each other except through combat. They speak different languages so they cannot even communicate with each other. Make your choice of faction very carefully because once you have chosen, the other faction becomes a lifelong enemy.
Classes
The next important decision that will affect your World or Warcraft strategy from level 1-80 is what class you will play. There are ten classes to choose from but be aware that not every race can play every class. Each class also has three talent trees that they can choose from. These classes are:
Death Knight – An effective tank or damage dealing class. He combines the powers of evil with his prowess in physical fighting.
Druid – A hybrid class that can shapeshift into different animals to fulfill different roles. Very versatile.
Hunter – Uses ranged weapons such as guns or bows. Hunters also tame companion pets who are ruthless and loyal fighters for the hunter.
Mage – Mages are frail and rely solely on their expertise with magic to both survive and put out massive amounts of damage.
Paladin – A hybrid class that can fulfill many roles. Since a paladin can tank or heal, they are very useful in groups.
Priest – A very versatile healer who can also choose to use the power of shadow to deal damage to enemies.
Rogue – Rogues are extremely dangerous since they can remain unseen until they wish to strike. They excel at melee attacks.
Shaman – Another versatile hybrid who can heal or deal damage. Shaman are also excellent at enhancing the groups effectiveness with their totems.
Warlock – This pure caster uses the powers of evil along with a summoned demon pet to wreak havoc on his foes.
Warrior – A sturdy tank class who can also opt to deal great damage with massive weapons.
Much of your World of Warcraft strategy revolves around which class you choose to play.
Note that these descriptions are just the very tip of what each class can and cannot do. Please read the specialized class guides for more information on any of them that interest you. All classes have access to professions. These are used to really flesh out your character and each profession offers specific benefits to the skilled user. Check out the profession guides for a more in depth look at each one. You start the game at level 1 and will eventually work your way up to the max level 80. As you level up you will become stronger and learn many new abilities for your class to use. These abilities are learned by visiting your class trainer which can be found in major cities and in your race’s starting area.
