World of Warcraft Priest Guide
Welcome to my World of Warcraft Priest guide.
The priest is the quintessential healer in WoW. She is the only class with two talent trees dedicated to healing and protecting her allies. A priest also has some of the most coveted buffs in the game. While it may be a bit tougher to level up solo, it pays off in dividends since the priest is one of the most wanted classes for any group or raid. Take solace in knowing that you will always be a welcome addition to a group whether it is a simple dungeon crawl or a high-end raid. Learn how to play the class well and people will literally beg you to help them. This World of Warcraft priest guide will show you why.

Most players consider the four healing classes to be fairly balanced. Each has a specialty. Paladins are great at single target heals. Druids are great at heal-over-time’s. A shaman is fantastic at raid healing and assisting on the tanks. A priest is the most versatile and has the most tools available to fit into healing role that is needed. A priest can do much more than just healing. They are excellent dispellers, great buffers, ressurectors, and if specced into the shadow tree, strong damage dealers. This World of Warcraft priest guide will cover just some of the ways to make your priest a valued member of any group.
Let’s start by talking about the three different talent trees. Remember that the priest is the only class that has two trees dedicated to healing and they are very different in how they go about it.
World of Warcraft Priest guide to talent trees:
Discipline
A discipline (disc) priest focuses on mitigating damage to her allies. This means that rather than allowing a friend to take damage and then heal it, she will prevent the damage from ever happening. One of the main tools of the disc priest is her Power Word: Shield. This buffs the target with a shield that absorbs damage. This can be a life-saver. It is instant cast and can save a party member when things get hectic. Pain Suppression is on a cooldown but is another wipe saving spell. Disc priests excel at healing tanks. Every raid should have one.
Holy
A holy priest is very versatile. Holy priests are fantastic at healing multiple targets and can heal single targets for huge heals as well. Deep in this talent tree you also gain abilities to negate an ally’s death. Holy priests stack very well and there are often multiple holy priests on a raid. Their versatility and huge toolbox of heals makes them invaluable if played skillfully.
Shadow
Shadow is the damage dealing spec for the priest. Most priests will level up in shadow unless they mainly heal groups though dungeons. A shadow priest does nice damage mostly though damage-over-time (DoT) spells. The priest can stack multiple DoT’s on a target and drain its life away over time. Shadow priests can also drain the hit points of an enemy and give them to friendly group members. A well-played shadow priest is very welcome in most raids.
One of the greatest traits of a priest is the ease of finding a group. People love to have a priest around. Most priests end up being healers. Its nice to have two different ways to heal just in case you get a bit bored with one or in case your raid needs you to specialize for a particularly tough fight. I hope this World of Warcraft priest guide helped you to get a better understanding of what this class is all about.
