World of Warcraft Warlock Guide

Welcome to my World of Warcraft Warlock Guide. The Warlock class is a pure DPS (damage per second) class, meaning that all three talent trees are damage based. This class is a cloth wearing class which means they lack some of the mitigation of other classes but this is balanced by pets, high DPS, and summoning abilities. The warlock is a fun class to play and not as technically complicated as some other classes can be. Leveling this class is very easy and can be done in a very short amount of time.

One of the bonuses of rolling a “lock”, are the summoned demon pets which help provide extra damage, survivability, and crowd control. In addition to pets, there are many useful abilities in the warlock’s soul pouch of evil like the summoning stone that allows you to bring group members to you. Soul Stones allow a dead party member to reincarnate and can save a raid from wiping. The warlock can summon healthstones for party members and themselves to assist with healing. Firestones and Spellstones are attached to weapons to increase damage.

Affliction
The talent tree I am going to discuss first is affliction. The affliction tree relies almost entirely on DoTs (damage over time). This is an excellent tree for leveling. Damage over time spells are very mana efficient and with the improved fear talents and voidwalker pet the warlock can easily kill multiple targets. Affliction can also be useful in PvP arenas since you can damage multiple opponents at once and put their healers under a lot of pressure.

Demonology
The demonology tree is all about increasing the power of your summoned pets. It can be fun to play and can be used to level but is not normally as fast as the other options. A demonology/destruction hybrid in the arenas are very damgerous and feared by other classes.

Destruction
Destruction is the fire tree and allows the warlock to do the most possible direct damage. The destruction tree is generally accepted as the most useful for raids. Destruction locks can easily top The “DPS” meters during boss fights and are great in 5-man groups as well.

The Warlock is a good class to play if you are new to the game or want an easy alt but there are down sides as well. When playing a DPS class like the warlock sometimes you will have to wait to find groups. There are many DPS classes and competition for the slots in a group or a raid. Warlocks are one the most powerful damage dealing classes if they are played with skill.
