WoW Vanity Pets

Vanity Pets for Everyone
by Arlianna – Level 80 – Hunter – Stormrage

In a time when we many people are reaching level 80, waiting on Cataclysm and trying to find things to do, some have turned to pets, mounts and achievements. Today I’ll be talking about WoW vanity pets. How do we get them? How do we keep track of everything? What are the most sought after pets? Is there a pet out there that’s right for me? Read on and learn the answers to all these questions and more. And remember that you don’t have to wait until you hit level 80 to start gathering these companions. You can gather several while you are still leveling up.

Well let’s start with the basics. I, as a pet enthusiast, strongly suggest taking an inventory of what you already have. Warcraftpets.com is great for that. You just create an account and track the pets you already have. They even have a nice little feature where you can exclude pets such as the Tiny Green Dragon. The Tiny Green Dragon is only available on Oceanic servers and therefore, US and EU servers will never be able to see one. They also have links to Wowhead.com to help with understanding exactly what you have to do to get your pet.

Once you have that done, the next step is to decide which pet you are going after. Everyone has their different methods. Some might start with the other faction’s pets. While this is a good place to start, it can also be rather expensive. From regular pets to Argent Tournament exclusives you could spend roughly 15k in gold just for 15 pets. That’s 1000 gold for a pet that they get for 40 silver. Not the best to start with in my opinion.

My starting point was buying the different pets available from the different vendors. They are as follows:

Alliance:
City: Darnassus
Vendor: Shylenai
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Great Horned Owl & Hawk Owl

City: The Exodar
Vendor: Sixx
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Blue Moth Egg, Yellow Moth Egg & White Moth Egg

City: Stormwind
Vendor: Donni Anthania
Price Per Pet: 40s
Pets Available: Cat Carrier (Bombay), Cat Carrier (Cornish Rex), Cat Carrier (Orange Tabby) & Cat Carrier (Silver Tabby)

City: Dun Morogh
Vendor: Yarlyn Amberstill
Price Per Pet: 20s
Pets Available: Rabbit Crate (Snowshoe)

Horde:
City: Orgrimmar
Vendor: Xan’tish
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Black Kingsnake, Brown Snake, Crimson Snake

City: Undercity
Vendor: Jeremiah Payson
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Cockroach

City: Thunder Bluff
Vendor: Halpa
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Prairie Dog Whistle

City: Eversong Woods
Vendor: Jilanne
Price Per Pet: 50s
Pets Available: Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling, Red Dragonhawk Hatchling & Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling

Both:
City: Booty Bay
Vendor: Naxx
Price Per Pet: 40s
Pets Available: Parrot Cage (Cockatiel) & Parrot Cage (Senegal)

City: Thousand Needles
Vendor: Magus Tirth
Price Per Pet: 1g
Pets Available: Ancona Chicken

Granted I think Horde got screwed when it came to number of pets, they still get way cooler pets. I’m always running around with my Crimson Snake right behind me. So you spend about six gold and come out with twelve or thirteen pets depending on faction. Plus you get an achievement for your first pet learned.
